Trees are much more than silent giants of the forest. Recent scientific discoveries have revealed a complex network of communication happening right beneath our feet.
The Mycorrhizal Network
Often called the "Wood Wide Web," these fungal threads allow trees to communicate. Older "Mother Trees" use this network to supply sugar to younger saplings, significantly increasing their chances of survival.
Communication
Trees release chemical signals to warn neighbors of insect attacks.
Resource Sharing
Nutrients are moved from healthy trees to those in need via roots.
